Analyzing Hezbollah And Its Use Of Violence Against Israel

Brianna Yannie Cho Islam and Politics Final Paper Strategic Hezbollah: Analyzing Hezbollah and Its Use of Violence Against Israel Introduction In the 1980s, Lebanon’s Hezbollah declared, â€Å"Israel is a rapist enemy that we will continue to fight until the raped land is returned to its rightful owners†, and subsequently initiated a militaristic and political struggle, as some would deem â€Å"terrorist† in nature, that would begin in approximately 1982 and persist to this very day.1 After having claimed thousands of lives, and eventually cleared Lebanon of Israeli occupation, this struggle has been, and still is subject of much scholarly attention. Much of the literature surrounding this topic has specifically dealt with the shifts in Hezbollah’s ideology and its incorporation of political Islam. Slightly diverging from previous areas of scholarly research and analysis, this paper will, from a political economy perspective, drawing facts from history, assess Hezbollah’s strategic use of violence in its resistance against Israel, precisely during the period from 1982 to 2000.2 In this paper, I argue that Hezbollah was able to achieve its goals of resistance against Israeli occupation in south Lebanon, because of its ability to secure a strategic relationship with a patron, and arouse and maintain popular local support through Islam and common identities. Cultural Awareness Of Nursing My Family - 1949 Words

Cultural Awareness in Nursing My southern heritage has directly influenced the person I am today. I grew up in South Louisiana and I have lived there all 25 years of my life. My childhood was not easy, but I think those tough situations prepared me for life, and taught me the value of family. I attended a private, Christian school and I am so appreciative of my parent’s sacrifices that allowed me to receive that education. I would describe myself as a kind, hardworking individual who respects, cares for, and values others. I believe these attributes are a genuine reflection of my upbringing. The purpose of making this report is to discuss most significant driving force, among above mentioned driving forces for our current workplace. Besides this driving force we will select a general area that we wish to focus on for training development and its program. Next essential topic to discuss in this report is development of a basic project plan that is related to development and evaluating of training process at workplace. Most Significant Force for Training at Workplace Before start discussion about significant force for training at workplace, it is better to know basic meaning of training. Training basically refers to a planned effort by a company to learning of jobs competencies for an employee. The major competencies are skills, behavior and knowledge and these are critical for successful job performance. The main goal of a training is to master the knowledge, skill and behavior that emphasized in programs of training. Therefore, to implement this important process of training, there is requirement to have an effective driving force. The selected force to implement training process successfully is Technology. This has been selected as most the significant force for training process because at our workplace the use of advanced technology is required to compete effectively. At our workplace, sustainability and globalization are already in action for training process, but lack of usage of advanced technology at workplace in training and regular acti vities is poor. Therefore, we are enhancing use of advanced technologies in our organization, because it will help us to globalize our business more and to communicate overseas with clients and customers without problem. This is the main reason that we consider, technology most significant force for our workplace. The technology has reshaped the way of our working at business workplaces. Internet, smartphones and computers are best examples of technologies and these have made our work so simple and easier. E-Commerce or online business is also example of increasing business online. Therefore, the training for these techniques and tools has become so important for every business organization. Most of the potential customers demand for implementation of these techniques are at workplaces. General Area for Development of Successful Training Program For implementing a successful training program with a significant force at workplace, there is requirement to select a general developing area and that selected area is improvement in team work skills for process area. To run business projects successfully team work is important. An individual cannot complete a project, different employees are required to work together on a project to complete this on time and within budget. Therefore, we want to focus on this general area of team work. At our workplace, it is commonly encountered that employees do not response effectively in team work, even they have lack of knowledge to work in team. Therefore, to achieve an effective team work it will be better to develop training program in this general area at our workplace. There are some basic reasons that why we have selected this general area for training purpose and that reasons are listed as below: 1.From this training program about team work, employees will know how to effectively work in a team. 2.Through this training program, trainers will teach how complex projects can be resolved in teams by assigning different modules of work to every team member. 3.To complete projects within predefined deadline and budget, training program will be helpful. Good business outcome can be achieved. Due to above discussed reasons, we would like to implement training program for improving team work at our workplace. It is a significant way to improve areas where an organization is lacking and may encounter problems in competitive market. Development of Basic Project Plan by Training Design Process In above segments of report, we have already discussed about required force for training program and general area for this program at our workplace. Now in this segment of report, we will emphasize on development of basic project plan by using training design process. Training Design Process The training design process refers to a systematic approach that is used for developing training programs. There are some essential steps in this designing process that are required to follow and that steps are listed as below: Step1: it is to conduct needs evaluation and it is known as Conducting Needs Assessment. Step2: This step is to ensure that employees have motivation and basic skills that are required to master the training content. Step3: This step is related to creation of learning environment with features important for learning. Step4: This step ensures that trainees apply the training content at their jobs. Step5: It is required to develop an evaluation plan. Step 6: This step is related to selection of a training method that is based on learning objectives and environment. Step7: This step is concerned with evaluation of program and make changes in it. Now by using these training design process, we will develop a basic project plan on development and evaluation of training process that we want to implement at our workplace and this training process is for improving team work skills (SHRM, 2017). Project Plan by using Training Design Process for Team Work Improvement Directing Needs Assessment: Under this step of training design process for improving team work, we will evaluate actual needs for implementing team work. In this process, organizational analysis, person analysis and task analysis where team work is required, will be done. Ensure Willingness of Employees for Training It is an important step of training design process and under this step, willingness of employees is ensured to know that they have potential to work in a team or not. To achieve this, attitudes, motivation and basic skills of employees are analyzed. Creation of Learning Environment According to this step of design process of training, all requirements must be considered to create an effective learning environment. Therefore, to improve skills of team work at work place, we will create learning environment for this by considering some essential features such as learning objectives, practice, feedback, required and meaningful material, modeling and program administration. Ensure Training Transfer After implementing training process at workplace, it is essential to ensure that training is delivering to all employees or not. It is not an easy task to perform, but to achieve this, self-management and peer and manager support is required. The peer and manager support helps employees to manage their training at their own level by contacting with trainer and by asking queries regarding team work. On another side, in self-management it is responsibility of trainer to ensure about training transfer. Selection of Training Method The selection of training method is an important thing to do in process of training. It will be better to select a method that is easier to provide training to trainees. So to give training to improve team work, we have decided to use e-learning method that is so much easy to adapt by trainers and trainees can also understand easily with this. Monitoring and Evaluation of Program This is last step of training design process and it is related to monitoring and evaluation of program for which we are giving training. To evaluate that all employees are learning effectively about team work or not, we will conduct periodic evaluation, improve program and will make changes. In this way, by using above listed steps of training design process, we will develop our project plan for improving team work at workplace (Noe, 2012). The effects of proper waste segregation free essay sample

Recent scientific studies reveal that human activities have contributed significantly to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that causes climate change. One of these human activities is the irresponsible disposal of garbage. Philippines is looming with garbage problems despite the passage of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or the Republic Act (RA) 9003. Based on the data from the National Solid Waste Commission last first quarter of 2007, there are 677 open dumpsites, 343 controlled dumps, and 21 landfills in the country. An additional 307 dump sites are subject for closure or rehabilitation plans but without definite schedules for enforcement. About 215 additional landfills are being proposed to be set up nationwide. But according to studies, landfills and open dumpsites contributed 34 percent of human-related methane emissions to the atmosphere which has more heat-trapping power than carbon dioxide. Thus, these landfills and open dumps are illegal under RA 9003. Another government program used in the reduction of waste is by using incinerators that have significantly higher levels of greenhouse gas emissions than a coal-fired power when all of the carbon coming out of an incinerator stack is measured. We will write a custom essay sample on The effects of proper waste segregation or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page These emissions are banned by the country’s Clean Air Act. Failure to act on garbage contributes to the death of at least two persons every minute due to complications from environmental management program. Mismanagement of waste has serious environmental consequences: ground and surface water contamination, local flooding, air pollution, exposure to toxins and spread of disease. Proper waste segregation and disposal is more effective when it started in each individual in the school, house, offices, and community. OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH The main objective of the research is to measure the effectivity of an alternative waste management which is the proper waste segregation and disposal of 4th year students in Geronima Cabrera National High School. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The research sought to answer the following questions: 1. How much garbage does the 4th year students of GCNHS produce within one week? 2. When applying the proper waste segregation and disposal in the 4th year students of GCNHS, how much garbage thrown in the dumpsite within one week? SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESEARCH The research shows the importance of proper waste segregation and disposal in minimizing the garbage thrown in the dumpsites that contributed significantly in air and water pollution. SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE RESEARCH The research covers only the amount of waste thrown by the 4th year students of Geronima Cabrera National High School within one week in the school respectively and the result of waste production when applying the proper waste segregation and disposal for one week. In addition, the research also shows the ways II. REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE Generating waste is almost unavoidable in todays world. Properly segregating and disposing of your waste not only reduces the amount of toxins that enter the atmosphere, you may even save someones life. Not all wastes are equal and some are so dangerous that they fall into a category all their own: hazardous waste. You can easily reduce all types of waste with changes in your habits, and even save some money in the process. Garbage is a never ending cycle. Every day each household produces a significant amount of trash. The more we consume the more garbage we incur. Garbage disposal has been a monumental problem ever since. Properly disposing of waste is not just a personal responsibility; some kinds of waste, usually hazardous, must be properly disposed of according to law set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. Toxic waste can seep into the ground and contaminate our water supplies, and sometimes cause widespread disease. Even non-toxic waste causes pollution that contributes to global warming and a general negative impact on the public health. EPA studies suggest that global warming could make earth almost inhospitable by the end of the century. III. METHODOLOGY The research was done within two weeks. First week, the researcher gathered the garbage produced by the four sections of 4th year students of GCNHS for five days and measured its amount by using twenty-five sacks. In the following week, the researcher gathered the garbage produced by the same group of students within one week but by this time the waste are segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable. The biodegradable wastes are place in the compost pit and the non-biodegradable is properly segregated into plastic wrappers and plastic bottles. The plastic wrappers are recycled into pillows and transformed into some decoration. IV. FINDINGS For the first week, segregation and disposal of waste is not applied. The amount of trash collected in the 4th year students of GCNHS within one week is shown in the table below. The data in table 1 and in figure 1 are the total amount of garbage generated within one week that was disposed in the municipal dumpsite. Table 2 shows the data of the amount of waste in which proper waste segregation and disposal is applied within one week. The total amount of biodegradables is placed in the compost pit while the non-biodegradables are being segregated into its classifications such as plastic bottles, plastic wrappers and cellophanes. Some non-biodegradables are being recycled like plastic wrappers and plastic bottles. The remaining non-biodegradables which cannot be recycled are being thrown away in the dumpsite. Day (March 11-15, 2013) Amount of Garbage disposed (measured using empty 25 kg. sack) Monday 0. 5 Tuesday 1 Wednesday 0. 75 Thursday 0. 75 Friday 0. 5 Total 3. 5 Table 3 Table 3 shows the amount of garbage disposed per day. Using the method of proper waste segregation and disposal, the total amount of waste disposed in a week decreased to 24. 14% of the total amount and saved up to 75. 86% of garbage that are recycled instead of throwing away. Figure 3 Figure 3 shows the comparison of the data or garbage disposed per week. Without using the proper waste segregation and disposal all garbage generated on a certain week was disposed. Using proper waste segregation and disposal method only 24. 14 percent of the total waste generated was disposed V. CONCLUSION We can’t deny the fact that one of the big problems in every country is the waste management. Mismanagement of the garbage will cause serious illness that harms the health of human being. The research effectively indicates that the total amount of waste generated in the schools, communities, cities and throughout the country can be reduce by using the proper waste segregation and disposal.

Deja Sims-Dean Essays - Free Essays, Term Papers, Research Papers Deja Sims-Dean QEP Reflective essay Religions of the World 02/13/2017 Expository essay In this essay I will be explaining the bible verses Genesis 16, 18:16-33, 22:1-19. In the bible it speaks on how God discovers that Abraham ought not be kept oblivious with respect to what God is "going to do" (18:17). God is worried that Abraham charges his relatives to "do honesty," that is, to do equity to the association with God in which they stand. On the off chance that Abraham did not do this, there would be no transmission of the confidence to the people to come and consequently no group to whom the guarantees apply. God's underlying words to Abraham (18:20-21) report the cries of unidentified people about the gravity of the wrongdoings of Sodom. God takes part in a legal request with Abraham, and God- - deciding to show Abraham the methods for equity - counsels with him in regards to the gravity of the circumstance in Sodom. God's utilization of the dialect of "if not" proposes that the fate of Sodom remains to some degree open, regardless of the possibility that God has to begin with chosen what to do. Abraham now remains before God and draws in God with respect to the circumstance in Sodom (18:22-33). He brings up sharp issues with God about the preparatory choice to obliterate the city. He is limit and determined, understanding that God invites such a test (such difficulties to God are additionally present in the mourns; for instance, Psalm 13). "Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is only?" (18:25b). Abraham is particularly worried that the noble in the city not be dealt with in an indistinguishable path from the devilish and brings the issue up in these terms: what number upright should there be in the city for God to spare it? God respects the question as an honest to goodness one. Abraham, for obscure reasons, begins with the number fifty and in the end works his way down to ten. God reacts emphatically to each question Abraham raises. While the numbers ought not be translated in an absolutely exacting manner, they raise the issue of "minimum amount." That is, what numbers of exemplary are important to spare the city from its own particular damaging ways? The development of mischievousness in any group can turn out to be so profound and expansive that there is a lacking number of honorable left in the city to turn the circumstance around. At the point when the number gets down to ten, Abraham perceives this to be the situation and leaves off the scrutinizing, perceiving that the pulverization of the city would be simply. Abraham continues to bring up particular issues about God's preparatory choice to pulverize Sodom in view of the objection against its subjects. Comparing two records of a significant event in history Essay

Comparing two records of a significant event in history - Essay Example As such, Polybius is very aware of the time and place at which the events took place. Polybius journeyed to the site not long after the actual crossing of the Alps, and is more trustworthy than a modern day historian. The account is a prose form of chronology in that it just tells the story, like a story. It is not interspersed with facts- it is represented as all fact - which is typical of early histories. They did not have many other writers to reference, and the reader most likely wouldn't have been able to access the other books regardless. The only major discrepancy between Polybius' accounting and that of Livy is that Polybius mentioned they could see Italy from the pass and Livy stated they could not see Italy until they had started the descent. Titus Livy (59 BCE- 17 CE) is the author of the authorized version of the history of the Roman republic. His writings do betray that he knew little of military matters which would affect the believability of his account of the military operations of Hannibal.2 Again, there is no attempt to evaluate the sources of evidence and it is quite likely that he may have even used Polybius' writings as a possible reference. As he lived 100 years or so after Hannibal crossed the Alps, this accounting is more subject to inaccuracies due to the passage of time.

Reading log - Essay Example tural in the sense that they constitute human technological advancement, but that this advancement is operating in a paradigm that is oppositional to the structure of the human brain. There are a number of insights that can be gleamed from the discussion. One of the primary considerations is Morgan’s (2006) belief that mechanization is necessarily a negative for human progress; such a debate dates back as early as Rousseau’s ‘noble savage,’ with the reality remaining anywhere but clear. In either regards, it seems that at the least one can embrace the argument in that for many individuals there is oftentimes a longing for such ‘naturalness’ and that an organization only implementing mechanized inputs can only expect to produce mechanized outputs, effectively alienating this human longing. One of the prominent such considerations then is establishing objective means of avoiding such mechanization. It is clear that, to an extent, for Morgan (2006) this involves developing organizations that are more in accordance with natural human physiology. His main understanding of the brain as a form of organizational design seems contin gent on the central insight that traditional organizational mechanization is rooted in a cause and effect chain of events, whereas an organization linked to the human brain would be composed elements that act with slight independence while also containing a semblance of the whole. There are a variety of applications for such an approach. One considers Burnes’ (2009) examination of Oticon. For Burnes (2009) the critical success factor for Oticon’s turnaround was first the establishment of an overarching vision that contained strong values as a means of promoting a new organizational culture. The organization then established a learning organization wherein internal innovation and change became the fabric of the work process. One considers that these critical success factors relate directly to Morgan’s (2006) notions of the

Definition, Process And Classification Essay Example for Free

Definition, Process And Classification Essay Each topic of discourse has the limits of information and resources and the key words intrinsic to understanding the trend of information espoused in the context. There are borders that clearly define this limit, and set processes that order the outlined thoughts or ideas into steps or stages inevitable in appreciating the message of discussion. To achieve this, there are important tools, which can be harnessed: definition, classification and processes. The definition is the succinct introduction of the topic that clearly defines the limits or extent of resources the topic covers. It gives a synopsis of the details that topic entails, releases the clue to understanding such details and hints on the process at achieving the latter. It includes the key words intrinsic to the issues of concern. In brief, this kick starts the engine. One should not make the mistake of referring this to just a word. It is the important concepts that are clearly defined for clarity of thought process. Beyond the definition, one realizes there are details for espousing the ideas associated with the topic. These details are enormous but the important must be highlighted. Process includes the method that explores the specific details, eliminates irrelevances and puts the issue in a right perspective. Alongside the definition and process through which data is obtained, analyzed and processed into useful information, the latter is classified into segments ion such a way that the topic is open for understanding, and further exposition. Classification ensures that boundaries are clearly defined; and provides a systematic approach for build up of comprehension. This implies that by appropriately classifying the available information on the topic of discourse, knowledge into built into interwoven segments and not set apart as mutually exclusive entities. It greatly enriches the significance of topic. These methods, definition, processing and classification, link the topic to existing information and ensure it is useful in the future.

Differences among Corporate, Institutional and Government Procurement

The procurement strategies differ greatly in the government, corporate and institutional sectors. First and foremost, there are some key distinctions in the supply chain management (SCM), that is in the â€Å"process-oriented system of purchasing, producing, and delivering product to customers† that includes the complete supply chain, i. e. â€Å"demand, supply, manufacturing, transportation and distribution†(1, 2006).Recently the industrial sector has increased the SCM standards with emphasis on speed and turnover of goods. For example, the turnover of inventory in Wal-Mart is approximately 12 hours (2, 2006). The government sector is less efficient in the SCM due to legal, cultural or material complexities, not to mention the bureaucracy that can influence the speed of logistics and supply. However, in the military industry the big contractors and the Pentagon are theoretically able to interact through â€Å"the revolving door†.In practice, it can lead to the c onflicts of interests, when the businesses hire government officials with a view to influence the government procurement strategies – for instance, Darleen Druyun’s case, the deputy acquisition chief for the Air Force, hired by Boeing in 2003) (3, 2004). Government purchasing can be more large-scale in terms of allocated funds; however, it complies not only to the matters of immediate financial benefit, but also to the state-level concerns. For example, the Government Purchasing Project by the Center for Responsive Law is regulated by environmentally preferable purchasing policies on the federal, state and local government level (4, 2006). Institutional purchasing faces fewer barriers in the form of formalities and large-scale commitments. Government procurement is an effective process of supplying necessary goods and services because of its holistic quality. The government establishes its own rules in view of the internal and external state policy and economic conditio ns.This is a flexible procurement process, and if rules were adequate to the demand, it is highly effective. By administering contracts the government agencies can choose the most favourable deal for supplying the required goods and services. However, here is a danger of making rules for their own sake, i. e. bureaucracy. To sum up, the differences between corporate, institutional, and government procurement lie in SCM (turnover speed), purchasing strategies and long-term perspectives, as well as general economic and political context.

Critical Thinking Skills And The Little Albert Episode

Critical Thinking Skills and the Little Albert Episode Ethics remains unavoidable in most disciplines, and psychology is no exception. John Watson’s experiment deserves the current criticism because it failed to observe informed consent and protection from harm principle. The controversy arises from the principle of beneficence and non-maleficence. The principle requires psychologists, in this case, John Watson, and his student to benefit and care for his subjects. During the Experiment, Albert was nine-months-old. The age of the infants forms the first unethical behavior by Watson. The APA code requires psychologists to ensure justice, integrity, respect for people’s rights and dignity, responsibility and fidelity, and beneficence and non-maleficence. The experiment is unethical as most of the activities did not practice justice and integrity to the involved human subject. The Little Albert experiment was conducted to underline the methods to an unlimited extent. Beneath the research among John Watson, and Rosalie Rayner’s Little Albert there were many controversy behaviors linked to the code of ethics.
